About the Author

For 8+ amazing  years, I have worked in the wine industry, starting in the Clos Pegase tasting room as Assistant Manager.  With an opportunity to learn more with Hahn Family Wines, I jumped at the invitation to work my way through Marketing, (competitions, event production, brand launches, POS material creation & editing, trade & consumer tastings, presentation building, distributor management and social media) when  I became the first named Social Media Director for a winery in 2008.  My title then was New Media Marketing Director as Social Media wasn’t yet a subset in the marketing world, but working online and to develop digital content (I produced, wrote & directed videos, blogs & photos) was certainly a fast growing niche where we built brand presence and a devoted and vocal following.  In 2009 another move brought me into the (wholesale) Sales world for HFW where I worked my way through the retail chain channel (BevMo!, Cost Plus, etc.) key accounts, regional accounts and finally National Accounts (on premise restaurants & hotels).  Learning about the wine wholesale business, distributor channels, Travel Brokers (servicing airlines and cruise lines) I continue to meet fantastic people who love the wine industry as much as I do.  Thanks for being here.  Please add your thoughts to our community of industry insiders.

One of my Favorite 30 second pieces for Cycles Gladiator features their winemakers in their element ( I produced and co-edited this in 2007):

Not to be completely nit-picky, but…

The grammar and syntax here are terrible. You really ought to clean this up.

Theater, film, and wine are all valued for their sensory impact and emotion. Great background for the wine industry!

    Hmmm, Jeff.
Well, I did a bit of editing as my content needed adjustment as well. So yes, I smoothed out the communication. Thanks for the critical eye. Too bad you didn’t leave any link or I’d have thanked you directly.

You are a big reason why so many great things are happening. Thank you so much for playing “match maker”!

Most Welcome, Rick. Your talent (and Lesley Russell’s brilliance) makes this particular synchronicity easy…
