Thanks, Ron. It sure could be a chant or mantra...whether for marketing, hospitality or any business building...seems obvious but often forgotten. Disney seems to get it right, though: http://www.qualitydigest.com/jan97/disney.html

Hello Lisa! What a great article. You've really done a fantastic job detailing the move towards a more open and accessible wine industry (community, actually). Thank you for the article.
As Chris and you have pointed out, this shift is still just starting, but I'm excited to see just how far it's gotten in only the last 2-3 years. Cheers!

Hi Lisa... sorry we didn't connect at WBC. Your last paragraph takes it home. But not only wineries need to be smart to join this online wine community, I think they also need to be smart on how they approach it. Otherwise, it isn't much better than the existing model and may be perceived by others as spam. There definitely needs to be the genuine aspect about it, because the consumer, I believe, is getting smarter about filtering through the BS that's out there. They need to be successful in creating that emotional, personal connection between themselves and the buyer. Wineries will also need to embrace the move to inclusive from exclusive as you point out... I've been to quite a few wineries who think they're the second coming of Christ and in today's social climate, that way of thinking will have to change.
